Job summary

The Capital Hotels, Apartments & Resorts in Cape Town is seeking a Duty Manager to oversee shift operations across Food & Beverage, Accommodation and Front of House, ensuring guest service excellence.

You will take accountability for shift performance, resolve guest complaints, manage cash-ups and reconciliations, and be ready to fill in for any staff member when required.

• Matric
• Hotel Management Qualification or Similar
• 1-2 years supervisory or managerial experience advantageous
• Hands-on problem solving approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently

Responsibilities

• Oversee shift performance and liaise with Food & Beverage, Accommodation, and Front of House.
• Resolve guest complaints and handle operational challenges proactively.
• Ensure all financial processes during the shift—cash-ups, reconciliations and variance control—are completed and reported on time.
• Be prepared to fill in for any staff member who is not available for duty.

Description

The Duty Manager reports into the relevant department heads on any particular shift and acts as the liaison between all departments, namely Food and Beverage, Accommodation, and Front of House. This includes taking full accountability for shift performance, resolving guest complaints and operational challenges proactively, and ensuring all financial processes during the shift — including cash-ups, reconciliations and variance control — are accurately completed and reported on time. The Duty Manager needs to have an overall understanding of all of the above in order to be able to fill in as required for any staff member who is not available for duty.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric
• Hotel Management Qualification or Similar
• 1 - 2 Years Supervisory or Managerial experience advantageous.
