Job summary
Placements24 in Durban is seeking a Senior Sustainable Design Architect to lead green design across projects, embedding environmental performance and energy efficiency from concept to delivery.
You will guide design teams, clients and consultants, implement sustainability strategies, run LCAs, and push for Green Star SA certifications while staying current with research and regulations.
Qualifications
- Must hold Professional Architect qualification (PrArch) and SACAP registration.
- 7+ years architectural experience; at least 3 years in sustainable design.
- Proven experience leading sustainability initiatives on medium to large projects.
- Proficient in sustainability modelling software (Ecotect, IES VE) and CAD/BIM tools.
- Strong knowledge of green building rating systems and environmental legislation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sustainability strategies for architectural projects, including energy efficiency and water conservation.
- Lead design charrettes and sustainability workshops.
- Conduct LCAs and environmental impact analyses for building designs.
- Coordinate with engineers to integrate renewable energy and green technologies.
- Ensure projects achieve Green Star SA and other relevant certifications.
- Stay updated on research, technologies and regulations in sustainable architecture.
