Job summary

Premier FMCG (Pty) Ltd is seeking a dedicated shunter/driver to manage the movement of bakery products between sites and ensure daily truck housekeeping and safety inspections. The role supports efficient loading pipelines and intercompany transfers.

You will conduct daily vehicle inspections, report defects, manage fuel and equipment readiness, and participate in operational meetings. The position requires a Code 14 license with PDP and 1–2 years in a similar transport environment.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years’ experience in a similar transport/warehouse role.
• Code 14 driver’s license and PDP are essential.
• Strong focus on safety, housekeeping, and vehicle inspections.

Responsibilities

• Maintain truck housekeeping standards and ensure trucks are clean and presentable.
• Report incidents and accidents to management promptly.
• Collect bread from Intercompany locations as required.
• Move trucks to wash bays and designate parking areas.
• Ensure trucks are fueled and ready for operation.
• Attend daily INVOCOMS and participate in discussions.

Job Purpose

Responsible for shunting bakery products within the bakery and transporting products to and from other bakeries. Ensures daily truck housekeeping and conducts thorough daily vehicle inspections to maintain safety, cleanliness, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain truck housekeeping standards, ensuring all trucks are clean, neat, and presentable at all times.
• Report all incidents and accidents to management promptly and accurately.
• Collect bread from Intercompany locations as required.
• Move all trucks to the designated wash bay for cleaning.
• Park vendor trucks in the designated parking bays.
• Ensure trucks are parked in the correct locations according to the loading pipeline.
• Move pre-loaded trucks to the designated areas as required.
• Conduct daily truck inspections and report any defects to the Transport Controller
• Ensure all trucks are adequately fuelled and ready for operation.
• Ensure sufficient trays are available and properly maintained in the designated tray bay.
• Attend daily INVOCOMS and participate in relevant operational discussions.
• Comply with all company health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations

Experience and Qualifications

• 1-2 years’ experience in similar environment and role
• A valid Code 14 driver’s license and PDP is essential

Working Conditions
