Job summary

SIGNAL HILL PRODUCTS is seeking a Delivery Driver to pick up and drop off items across assigned routes, ensuring on-time delivery and accuracy. The role requires a Code 14 license with a clean record, and experience with Super Link driving. Forklift licensing is a plus.

The ideal candidate will maintain safety standards, assist with loading/unloading, and provide friendly customer service while complying with HACCP/IS022000 requirements where applicable.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 required.
• Valid Code 14 driver's license with a clean driving record and no disqualifying medical/criminal history.
• Minimum 1 year Super Link driving experience.
• Valid forklift license.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up items within assigned routes and time schedules, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Provide excellent customer service and handle inquiries or complaints politely.
• Assist with loading/unloading items and perform basic vehicle checks and maintenance tasks.
• Adhere to safety, health and environmental standards and company SOPs.
• Prepare and submit delivery documents and reports to the Shift Supervisor.

Overall Responsibility

Delivery Driver will pick up and drop off items while adhering to assigned routes and time schedules and must work as part of the delivery team in order to ensure that the items are complete, packed correctly, and safely delivered to the correct client in a polite and prompt manner. Comply with and HACCP or IS022000 requirements.

Key Accountabilities And Focus Areas

Focus Area 1: Maintain safe, healthy and risk-free working environment

• Adhere to SHP Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) standards in all daily activities.
• Participate in safety observations, follow established safety processes, and report or escalates identified gaps.
• Implement and sustain 5S standards in the designated work area, maintaining workplace organization and discipline.
• Always adhere to safe working practices
• Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, and safe work instructions.
• Conduct pre-task safety checks before starting equipment or processes
• Comply with and HACCP or IS022000 requirements
• Apply basic hygiene and sanitation and adhere to food safety related rules and activities as per factory instructions
• Perform Food Safety and Quality related activities as part of the FSMS and QC functions

Focus Area 2: Manufacturing Excellence culture

• Consistently follows Manufacturing Excellence (ME) pillar tools and standardized work processes.
• Adhere to structured shift handover requirements to ensure operational continuity and information accuracy.
• Maintain the Operator Workstation concept throughout the shift
• Perform assigned Autonomous Maintenance tasks in accordance with established standards.
• Take responsibility for basic equipment condition, inspection, cleaning, and lubrication activities.
• Report equipment abnormalities and support restoration to basic conditions.
• Support the continuous improvement culture
• Drive manufacturing excellence pillars on the shopfloor

Focus Area 3: Driver duties

• Loading, transporting, and delivering items to clients or businesses in a safe, timely manner
• Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied
• Assisting with loading and unloading items from vehicles
• Providing excellent customer service, answering questions, and handling complaints from clients
• Adhering to assigned routes and following time schedules
• Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record
• Operating equipment and machines, such as cars and trucks
• Assist with counting and picking stock
• Act as a checker operator and driver reliever when required
• Assist with the truck inspection and advise of concern to shift supervisor or incoming shift handover
• Schedules and other monthly KPI’s will be established to maximize the effectiveness of this support.

Focus Area 4: Reporting

• Preparing reports and other documents relating to deliveries, ensure all deliveries documents are correctly completed and compiled
• Handover concerns or queries to the Shift Supervisor

Minimum Requirements

• Matric/Grade 12
• Valid driver's Code 14 license, with a clean driving record with no medical or criminal record that would disqualify the driver from obtaining a PDP
• Minimum 1 years Super Link driving experience
• Valid forklift license

Skills And Competencies

• Strong time management and customer service skills
• Customer service-oriented with excellent communication abilities
• Physical capability to walk, drive, lift, and carry heavy items for extended periods
