Job summary

HENSOLDT South Africa is seeking a Driver to safely and efficiently deliver and collect goods and documents to support Supply Chain operations. You will plan routes, perform vehicle checks, maintain transport records, and ensure compliance with procedures, while meeting daily operational targets.

The role requires a valid SA driver's license and PDP, with a pre-employment medical exam and background checks. Preference for candidates with logistics experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ driving experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• Experience delivering and collecting goods in a business/logistics environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily delivery and collection activities to establish efficient routes and timely transport.
• Conduct vehicle serviceability and roadworthiness checks before each trip and report defects.
• Collect, transport and hand over goods and documents according to the delivery plan.
• Complete and archive vehicle logbooks and timesheets to maintain auditable records.
• Park and secure the vehicle, hand over keys, and support Store activities as needed.

About the Role

The Driver is responsible for the safe, timely and efficient delivery and collection of goods and documents in support of Supply Chain operations. The role plans delivery routes, performs vehicle roadworthiness checks and maintains accurate transport records to ensure reliable distribution and compliance with established operational procedures.

Candidates must hold a valid South African driver’s license and a valid PDP. Appointment is conditional on passing a pre-employment medical examination, including an eye test for visual acuity and colour vision, conducted in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Section 7 of the Employment Equity Act, meaning testing is limited to what is necessary for the inherent requirements of the job and is not used for unfair discrimination. A satisfactory criminal record check and verification of a clean driving record are also required.

• Experience delivering and collecting goods or documents within a business, logistics or supply-chain environment will be advantageous.

Key responsibilities:

Delivery and Collection Planning

Plan and coordinate daily delivery and collection activities with the Store Supervisor according to operational requirements to establish efficient routes and manage deviations, resulting in timely and reliable transportation of goods and documents.

Vehicle Inspection and Roadworthiness

Conduct vehicle serviceability and roadworthiness checks before each trip and report identified defects through the required channels to confirm that the vehicle is safe and suitable for use, resulting in compliant and reliable transport operations.

Delivery and Collection Execution

Collect, transport and hand over goods and documents between Stores, Shipping, suppliers and relevant recipients in accordance with the agreed delivery plan to ensure items reach the correct destination, resulting in accurate and timely distribution.

Transport Administration and Record-Keeping

Complete, update and archive vehicle logbooks, timesheets and roadworthiness checklists in accordance with established procedures to maintain accurate transport information, resulting in accessible and auditable operational records.

Vehicle Control and Operational Support

Park and secure the vehicle, hand over the keys at the close of business and assist with relevant Stores activities when required to maintain control of company assets and support operational requirements, resulting in compliant vehicle custody and continuity of Supply Chain operations.
