Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Drilling Fluids Specialist to join their team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. The role focuses on formulation, testing, and application of drilling muds to suit challenging geological conditions and maintain wellbore stability.

The candidate will supervise site operations, optimize fluid properties, and ensure safe disposal and environmental compliance on remote sites while contributing to cost-efficient drilling programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a drilling fluids engineer or specialist.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid systems, additives, and their application in various geological formations.
• Familiarity with fluid testing equipment and procedures.
• Strong understanding of wellbore hydraulics and its impact on drilling efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise drilling fluid operations at the wellsite, ensuring adherence to program requirements.
• Formulate, test, and adjust drilling fluid properties to maintain optimal performance and wellbore stability.
• Monitor drilling fluid performance, diagnose problems, and implement solutions to mitigate drilling issues.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to drilling fluid disposal and management.
• Provide technical support and recommendations to the drilling team and management.
• Maintain accurate records of fluid properties, volumes, and costs.
