Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Dispatch and Logistics Coordinator in Mahikeng to organize and optimize our transportation fleet. You will schedule drivers, monitor progress, and coordinate with drivers, customers, and warehouse staff to ensure on-time delivery and efficient routes.

The role requires strong dispatch experience, knowledge of GPS systems, and excellent communication. You will adapt to changes, maintain logs, and comply with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, or a similar role is required.
• Familiarity with dispatch software and GPS tracking systems is advantageous.
• Strong geographical knowledge of the Mahikeng area and surrounding regions.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick, effective decisions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications, including MS Office.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving.
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications are a plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends if required.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch drivers and vehicles according to pre-determined routes and schedules.
• Monitor driver progress and communicate any deviations or delays.
• Effectively manage and update dispatch logs and records in real-time.
• Coordinate with warehouse staff, customers, and drivers to ensure smooth operations.
• Optimize delivery routes for efficiency, fuel economy, and timely arrivals.
• Respond to customer inquiries and provide updates on shipment status.
• Handle any urgent or unexpected dispatch needs and make necessary adjustments to the schedule.
• Ensure compliance with traffic regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
• Maintain communication with drivers to address any issues they encounter on the road.
• Generate reports on dispatch activities, delivery performance, and vehicle utilization.
