Placements24 is seeking a Director of Golf Course and Grounds Maintenance to oversee the health, condition and aesthetic of the Durban golf facilities. You will lead turfgrass management, irrigation, pest control, landscaping and course operations while developing a dedicated groundskeeping team.

Competenze

• Degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management or closely related field.
• Minimum 8 years in golf course maintenance with at least 3 years in supervision/management.
• Certification from a recognized turfgrass management association is highly preferred (e.g., GCSAASA).
• Proven turfgrass physiology, soil science, and integrated pest management expertise.
• Strong knowledge of irrigation systems and water management techniques.

• Develop and implement agronomic plans for golf course and grounds to ensure optimal playing conditions.

About the Role

Our client, a prestigious establishment in the leisure and sports industry, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Golf Course and Grounds Maintenance to manage its premier facilities in Durban . This leadership role is responsible for the overall health, condition, and aesthetic appeal of the golf course and surrounding grounds, ensuring an exceptional experience for members and guests. The Director will oversee all aspects of turfgrass management, irrigation, pest control, landscaping, and course operations, while leading and developing a dedicated groundskeeping team. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for the golf course and grounds, ensuring optimal playing conditions.
• Oversee all maintenance operations, including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease management, and bunker maintenance.
• Manage the budget for grounds maintenance, including labor, equipment, supplies, and capital expenditures.
• Lead, train, and motivate a team of groundskeepers, assistant superintendents, and seasonal staff.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and implement sustainable maintenance practices.
• Manage the maintenance and repair of all groundskeeping equipment, ensuring efficiency and safety.
• Collaborate with the golf operations team and club management to coordinate course activities and events.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, soil/water tests, and weather data.
• Uphold the highest standards of course aesthetics and playability.

Requirements

• Degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Certification from a recognized turfgrass management association is highly preferred (e.g., GCSAASA).
• Proven expertise in turfgrass physiology, soil science, and integrated pest management.
• Strong knowledge of irrigation systems and water management techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets effectively and control operational costs.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience operating and maintaining a wide range of groundskeeping equipment.
