Placements24 is assisting a premier Leisure & Sports facility in Gauteng Midrand to recruit an experienced Golf Course Superintendent who will oversee the maintenance and presentation of championship‑level courses.

The role requires strong agronomy expertise, turfgrass management, irrigation oversight, and sustainable practices, plus leadership to train and supervise grounds staff and to manage budgets while delivering an unrivaled playing experience for members and visitors.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• A degree or diploma in Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field is highly desirable.
• Proven knowledge of turfgrass physiology, soil science, and integrated pest management techniques.
• Experience with irrigation system management and repair.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for turfgrass maintenance, including fertilization, pest control, and irrigation strategies.
• Supervise, train, and manage a team of groundskeepers, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols.
• Operate and maintain a variety of golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring it is in excellent working condition.
• Manage the course budget effectively, controlling costs related to labor, supplies, and equipment.
