Job summary

Stellenbosch University seeks a seasoned library leader to manage the Music and Theology Libraries on campus. You will plan strategically, oversee operations, mentor staff and coordinate enquiry and information services for students and academics.

You will develop collections within budget, collaborate with faculties, and promote training opportunities while expanding services to meet evolving information needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in LIS or equivalent qualification.
• At least five years' experience in an information service environment of an academic library.
• At least two years' experience in a management position.
• Knowledge of the management of an academic, special or branch library.
• Knowledge of the needs of the academic community with regard to information resources, services, research support and other client services.
• General and subject knowledge of printed and electronic resources.
• Proven experience of information literacy development via contact sessions and/or e-learning programmes.
• High level of computer proficiency, including advanced experience in the use of software such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, liaison and marketing skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of the Music and Theology Libraries.
• Responsible for human resource management.
• Providing information service, digital and information literacy training and research support to clients.
• Responsible for operational management.
• Developing and maintaining a collection of information resources that will meet the needs of the clients of the Music and Theology Libraries.
• Liaising, building relationships, communicating and marketing of training opportunities and services.
• Initiating projects to improve or expand services or functions in the Music and Theology Libraries.
• Verantwoordelik vir menslikehulpbronbestuur.
• Voorsiening van 'n inligtingsdiens, digitale en inligtingsgeletterdheidsopleiding en navorsingsteun aan kliënte.
• Verantwoordelik vir operasionebestuur.
• Ontwikkeling en instandhouding van 'n versameling inligtingsbronne wat aan die behoeftes van die kliënte van die Musiek- en Teologiebiblioteke sal voldoen.
• Skakeling, die uitbou van verhoudinge, kommunikasie, en bemarking van opleidingsprogramme en -dienste.
• Inisieëring van en/of deelname aan projekte om dienste en funksies in die Musiek- en Teologiebiblioteke te verbeter of uit te bou.
