About the Role

Our client is looking for an innovative and experienced University Librarian specializing in Digital Resources to join their academic library team in Benoni . This crucial role involves managing, developing, and promoting the library's digital collections and services, ensuring that students and faculty have seamless access to vital online information resources. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of information access within the institution, leveraging technology to enhance research and learning. This position offers a blend of strategic oversight and hands‑on management of digital assets in the vibrant academic community of Gauteng .

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the acquisition, management, and lifecycle of all digital library resources, including e-books, journals, databases, and archival materials.
• Develop and implement strategies for the discovery, access, and preservation of digital collections.
• Provide expert reference and research support, assisting users with navigating digital resources and research tools.
• Collaborate with IT departments and vendors to ensure the optimal functioning and integration of library systems and platforms.
• Develop and deliver training programs for students and staff on utilizing digital resources effectively.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or Information Science (MIS) from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in an academic library, with significant focus on digital resources management and library systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in electronic resource management, digital preservation, and library technologies.
• Strong understanding of copyright, licensing, and metadata standards relevant to digital collections.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
