Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Buyer to manage procurement of direct materials for production at our Mahikeng facility. You will source raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and competitive pricing to support manufacturing demands.

You will collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to drive cost-efficiency and maintain smooth operation of our production lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years of direct materials purchasing experience in manufacturing.
• Proven sourcing, negotiation, and supplier relationship management experience.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure direct materials, components, and services per production schedules.
• Evaluate suppliers on quality, cost, delivery, and technical capabilities.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Manage supplier relationships and conduct performance reviews.
• Process purchase orders and communicate order status.
• Monitor direct material inventory and optimize stock levels.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to meet material requirements.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations.
• Analyze market trends and supplier performance for cost savings.
• Resolve discrepancies related to deliveries, quality, or invoicing.
