Job summary

PetroSA in Mossel Bay seeks a skilled Junior Diesel Mechanic to inspect, maintain and troubleshoot diesel/petrol powered equipment. You will install and commission machinery, support production, and participate in planned shutdowns.

The role requires at least 3 years in a similar position, a Code 08 license, and physical fitness to work at heights and in confined spaces. Local benefits include health, retirement plans and professional development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience as a Junior Diesel Mechanic.
• Code 08 drivers license.
• Physically fit to perform the function including climbing ladders, working at heights and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test and maintain diesel/petrol powered equipment to ensure maximum production availability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems to minimize downtime.
• Install and commission diesel/petrol powered equipment as required.
• Participate in projects, shutdowns and turnarounds to ensure timely delivery.
• Perform standby duties as per roster to support operations.
• Update quality management systems with relevant information for planning and audit purposes.
• Provide technical support to depots and offshore installations to ensure reliability of equipment.
• Implement SHEQ and housekeeping procedures to keep the workplace safe.
• Provide advice and assistance to internal/external customers regarding area operations.

Job description

Under minimalguidance and supervision, implement operating procedures to inspect,troubleshoot and maintain petrol/diesel powered equipment used in the plant andprovide technical support to the production area team to ensure maximumequipment/machinery availability for production to take place.

• Inspect, test andconduct maintenance on diesel/petrol powered equipment/machinery to ensuremaximum availability of equipment for production to take place.
• Performtroubleshooting on diesel/petrol powered equipment/machinery and identify andresolve the problems to ensure maximum availability of equipment for productionto take place.
• Install andcommission diesel/petrol powered equipment/machinery to ensure maximumavailability of equipment for production to take place
• Participate in theexecution of projects, shutdown and turnarounds being undertaken by the MobileEquipment Workshop to ensure that services are delivered on time, on spec andwithin budget.
• Perform standby dutiesas per the standby roster to provide technical support to the responsibilityarea as required.
• Provide the relevant inputto update the relevant quality management systems to ensure that all the required informationis captured and stored for planning, referencing and audit purposes.
• Provide technicalsupport, when required, to PetroSA depots in Bloemfontein and Tzaneen, as wellas offshore installations such as the EM Buoy and FA Platform, to ensure theavailability, reliability and safe operation of equipment and machinery.
• Implement SHEQ, housekeeping and the relevant workshop operatingprocedures to ensure that the workplace is kept clean and safe for operation atall times.
• Provide advice andassistance to internal and external customers regarding requests or queriesrelated to the area of operation for quality customer service.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Physically fit toperform the function without any medical restriction in terms of climbing ladders, working at heights and confinedspaces
