Placements24 in South Africa is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our fully remote engineering team. You will build, automate, and manage cloud infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, and security across deployments.

You will design CI/CD pipelines, automate provisioning with Terraform/Ansible, and monitor systems. The role requires scripting in Bash or Python, Docker, Kubernetes, and collaboration with a remote team to deliver high-quality software.

• Proven DevOps experience in a fast-paced environment.

You will bridge the gap between software development and IT operations, implementing best practices for continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), infrastructure as code, and system monitoring. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated building, testing, and deployment of applications.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.

• Implement and maintain robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.

• Develop and maintain scripting for automation tasks (e.g., Bash, Python).

Requirements

• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Understanding of networking, security, and monitoring principles.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for remote teamwork.
