Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join its IT team in George. You will bridge development and operations, focusing on automating deployment pipelines and infrastructure management to improve reliability and scalability of our software delivery.

You will design and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure, build and manage CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps, and apply IaC with Terraform or Ansible, while ensuring security and high availability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• Proven DevOps experience with infrastructure automation.
• Strong AWS knowledge including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC.
• Hands-on with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Experience with monitoring and CI/CD tools.

Responsibilities

This role is crucial for improving the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of our software delivery process. You will work with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, manage cloud infrastructure, and ensure the smooth operation of our production environments, contributing to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure , primarily on AWS.
• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Implement and enforce infrastructure as code (IaC) principles using tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize application deployment and performance.
• Ensure security best practices are integrated into all aspects of the infrastructure and deployment process.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role involving infrastructure automation.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS , including services like EC2, S3, RDS, and VPC.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) and CI/CD tools.
