Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer in Mahikeng, North West for a hybrid role bridging software development and IT operations. You will design CI/CD pipelines, build cloud infrastructure, and ensure system security and reliability.

The ideal candidate has solid cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP), IaC expertise (Terraform/Ansible), and strong scripting skills. You’ll work with Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring tools in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role.
• Strong cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD proficiency.
• Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Scripting skills: Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of monitoring/logging (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and security best practices.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration abilities.
• Excellent communication skills.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining our cloud infrastructure, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our systems. Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes. Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Ansible. Manage and monitor cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), ensuring high availability, performance, and security. Implement and manage containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Develop and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems. Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues across the application lifecycle. Automate operational tasks and processes to improve efficiency. Ensure system security and implement best practices for vulnerability management. Participate in on-call rotations for incident response and problem resolution.

Requirements

Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role. Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps). Experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet). Solid understanding of containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes). Experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack). Understanding of networking principles and security best practices. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
