Job summary

South Assistants seeks a frontend React developer to ship production work in clients’ repos, including landing pages, product UI and dashboards. You’ll work directly with client engineers, write clean PRs, and follow ESLint, tests and code-review standards.

You will collaborate on features end-to-end, engage in standups and planning, and work with REST/GraphQL APIs, while leveraging React, Next.js and Tailwind in a fully remote setup from South Africa.

Qualifications

• 2+ years shipping React in production.
• Proficient with Next.js, Tailwind CSS and modern frontend tooling.
• Fluent reading/writing of TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of accessibility, semantic HTML and responsive design.
• Able to read and write English clearly; comfortable with PR-based workflows.
• Experience with Git, GitHub and PR-based workflows.

Responsibilities

• Ship production React in client repos (landing pages, product UI, dashboards, marketing sites).
• Collaborate directly with client engineering teams and participate in standups, sprints and planning.
• Push PRs to GitHub/GitLab in line with client standards; write clear PR descriptions and tests where applicable.
• Own small features end-to-end and pair on larger ones as needed.
• Integrate with REST and GraphQL APIs currently used by the client.

South Assistants places senior South African professionals with ambitious businesses across the US, UK and Europe. As a Developer on our team, you'll ship production React in your client's repo (landing pages, product UI, dashboards and marketing sites), working directly with their engineering team.

• Premium clients: Work with venture-backed startups, SaaS companies and agencies.

• Push PRs directly to your client's GitHub or GitLab repo.

• Write clear PR descriptions, Loom walkthroughs and tests where they matter.

• Have 2+ years shipping React in production.
• Are comfortable with Next.js, Tailwind CSS and modern frontend tooling.
• Read and write TypeScript fluently.
• Understand accessibility, semantic HTML and responsive design.
• Know your way around Git, GitHub and PR-based workflows.
• Communicate clearly in English, written and spoken.
• Can commit to at least 4 hours of daily overlap with your client's US business hours.
• Have a fast, stable fibre internet connection suitable for video calls and pairing sessions.
• Have worked full-stack (Node, Postgres, Supabase, Firebase).
• Know Webflow, Framer or other low-code stacks for marketing-site work.
• Have experience with animation (Framer Motion, GSAP, Rive).
• Are fluent in AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code).
• Have contributed to an open-source project.
• Competitive monthly salary ($2,200 – $3,200 based on experience)
