Job summary

Astral Foods Ltd in Durbanville is seeking a Department Head for the Sterilisation Plant to run production and maintenance during shifts, address interruptions, and oversee routine maintenance of rendering equipment.

The ideal candidate is a qualified Artisan with supervisory experience, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to manage labour, safety, and disciplinary matters while coordinating with senior management.

Qualifications

• Must be a qualified Artisan.
• Proven experience in a Supervisory role.
• Previous experience in electrical/repair of poultry processing and rendering plant equipment will be advantageous.
• Computer literacy - MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance on Rendering plant equipment.
• Deal with unscheduled processing interruptions due to breakdowns.
• Full control of production processes and responsible for maintaining production standards.
• Responsible for all labour-related issues, including ensuring that all positions are managed at all times.
• Dealing with all disciplinary matters appropriately and according to the company’s disciplinary code.
• Continued interaction and communication with senior management.
• Maintaining and implementing the 20 Keys principles, including Health & Safety of the department.

Purpose

• The purpose of the Department Head (Sterilisation Plant) is to run the production and the maintenance whilst on shift. To ensure that production targets are met and attend to unscheduled processing interruptions resulting from breakdowns. Do routine maintenance on processing equipment, assist with new installation of rendering equipment.

Required Qualification

• Must be a qualified Artisan

Required Experience

• Proven experience in a Supervisory role
