Placements24 is seeking an experienced Delivery Fleet Manager to oversee our Gauteng-based delivery network in a hybrid on-site/remote role. You will lead a team of drivers, optimize routes, monitor vehicle uptime, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes data-driven performance, cost control, and collaboration with warehouse and customer service to achieve timely deliveries. A strong logistics background and South African transport knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or above in logistics, supply chain, business administration or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day delivery fleet operations, scheduling, dispatch, and route optimization.
• Lead and coach a team of delivery drivers, ensuring adherence to policies and performance standards.
• Monitor vehicle performance, maintenance, and downtime to minimize disruptions.
• Enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance for drivers and public safety.
• Analyze fleet data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities and improve KPI performance.
• Oversee fuel procurement, inventory control and cost management for the fleet.
• Coordinate with warehouse and customer service to ensure seamless deliveries.
• Develop and implement driver training programs to enhance safety and efficiency.
• Address driver performance and disciplinary issues as needed.

Our client, a rapidly expanding e-commerce and logistics enterprise, is looking for an experienced and dynamic Delivery Fleet Manager to oversee operations in the Tembisa, Gauteng area. This pivotal role demands exceptional leadership, operational efficiency, and a deep understanding of fleet management principles. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, cost-effective, and timely delivery of goods to our diverse customer base, managing a substantial fleet of delivery vehicles and a team of dedicated drivers. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, capable of optimizing routes, maintaining vehicle uptime, and fostering a culture of safety and accountability. This position requires a blend of analytical skills for performance tracking and problem-solving capabilities to address logistical challenges in real-time. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the delivery fleet, including scheduling, dispatch, and route optimization.
• Supervise and lead a team of delivery drivers, ensuring adherence to company policies and performance standards.
• Monitor vehicle performance, maintenance schedules, and repair needs to minimize downtime.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of drivers and the public.
• Analyze fleet data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Manage fuel procurement, inventory, and cost control measures for the fleet.
• Coordinate with the warehouse and customer service departments to ensure seamless delivery operations.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and licensing requirements.
• Develop and implement training programs for drivers to enhance skills and safety awareness.
• Handle driver issues, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed.

Requirements

• Proven experience in fleet management, logistics, or a similar operational role.
• Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, route planning software, and fleet management systems.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
• Knowledge of relevant South African transport laws and regulations.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working within the Tembisa or surrounding Gauteng areas is advantageous.
