Description du poste

Vacancy: Deceased Estates Tax Profiler R15k to R20k dependent on experience and technical competence.

Position purpose:
Analyse a deceased taxpayer’s existing SARS profile and historical compliance position and prepare a clear,
evidence-based access report for management review and communication to the estate practitioner/client.

Key responsibilities
  • Review the SARS profile when access is obtained: taxpayer registration details, tax types, RR status, estate coding, RAV01 information and available eFiling records.
  • Examine at least the previous three tax years where records are available, expanding the review when relevant issues or risks are identified.
  • Reconcile submitted and outstanding ITR12 returns, assessments (ITA34), statements of account, payments, refunds, penalties, interest and open SARS cases.
  • Identify whether existing PAYE and VAT registrations appear on the deceased individual’s profile; record outstanding periods and compliance status without assuming they are resolved.
  • Flag potential risks such as unexplained balances, repeated non-submission, outstanding verifications/audits, objections, bank verification and discrepancies requiring specialist review.
  • Prepare a standardised access report summarising each tax type, years reviewed, source documents, historical action, outstanding matters, recommended next steps and priority items.
  • Attach or link the supporting SARS extracts, clearly distinguish verified facts from missing information and refer uncertain tax/legal conclusions to management.
  • Update the access-report tracker, meet agreed service deadlines and hand over the reviewed report to management or the assigned Administrator; respond to clarification requests.
Minimum requirements and competencies
  • Good SARS eFiling experience and ability to interpret returns, assessments, statements of account and compliance status.
  • Sound foundational understanding of individual tax, PAYE/VAT status checks and deceased-estate workflows.
  • Analytical writing, evidence-based reporting, spreadsheet proficiency and meticulous accuracy.
Key performance indicators
  • Access reports completed within management-set turnaround times after full SARS access is available.
  • Every report identifies years checked, tax types, open items, action owners and documentary evidence.
  • Material risks escalated promptly and no unsupported conclusion presented as confirmed.
  • Role is primarily analysis and report preparation, not tax-return preparation, sign-off or filing.

Final job title to be confirmed.

All duties are subject to SVV policies, applicable tax legislation, SARS procedures and delegated authority.
