Job summary

Smollan is seeking a Data Visualisation Developer to join the Deployment team. You will run and check reports across monthly, weekly, and daily cycles, develop custom and ad hoc reports, and ensure data accuracy in the reporting framework.

You will collaborate with the Deployment Manager, Client Success, and data teams to resolve issues, engage with clients to capture reporting requirements, and contribute to syndicated and standard reporting solutions with guidance from senior developers.

Responsibilities

• Runs reports (monthly, weekly, and daily) and checks to ensure that the reports are correctly refreshing.
• Reviews automated checks and refreshes for accuracy and correctness.
• Identifies data errors and coordinates fix with relevant teams.
• Executes report changes including calculations and dashboard elements with guidance.
• Creates new data sources and new reports and ensures reporting standards are met.
• Participates in client meetings to understand reporting requirements and supports deployment.
• Mentors new team members during induction and training in data visualisation tasks.

Job description

The Data Visualisation Developer is a key member of the Deployment team and works on the reporting process and tasks for their service line as assigned. The tasks include the running and

checking of reports for delivery as well as the development of custom and ad hoc reports as allocated by the Deployment Manager and the Data Visualisation team as required. The work allocated would be for standard and syndicated solutions that require some evaluation and originality.

The Data Visualisation Developer works closely with the Deployment Manager and full Deployment team and interacts with the Client Success, and the greater Data Visualisation team in the resolution of any data issues that he or she is unable to resolve on their own. The Data Visualisation Developer may also start engaging with clients together with Client Success to understand the clients’ needs and reporting requirements.

Report running and checking

Runs reports (monthly, weekly, and daily) and checks to ensure that the reports are correctly

refreshing, and that data is accurately reflecting in the reports.

Reviews any automated checks and refreshes for accuracy and correctness.

Identifies any errors within the data and communicates these to the relevant team to fix.

Ensures that the reporting frameworks are complete and ready for delivery within the agreed timeframes.

Identifies any issues and communicates progress and challenges on an ongoing basis and escalates any issues for resolution.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues and escalates complex issues for joint resolution.

Report Changes

Receives report change briefs from Client Success or the Deployment Manager and executes these changes (calculations, dashboard elements, aesthetic changes) with guidance as required.

Works on both syndicated and standard reports and some integrated and more complex

reporting solutions under guidance as required. Work would be done under supervision and guidance of Senior Data Visualisation Developer as required.

Communication and Adhoc Reporting Tasks

Engages with the Client Success team and/or clients to complete any ad hoc reporting tasks and creates new reports as required.

Troubleshoots and resolves issues and communicates progress and challenges and escalates only complex issues for resolution.

Other tasks within the Data Visualisation team as identified and required

Creates new data sources and new reports

Creates Pyramid (and/or other BI and analytics tools used by Smollan) datasources.

Creates new reports by inputting new calculations, time frames, measures etc.

Updates and moves reports over to newer versions ensuring correct reporting standards.

Completes new set-ups in the Deployment Team

Completes a Data Engineer briefing document and participates in review meetings to ensure an understanding of reporting requirements and deliverables for new set-ups.

Is proficient at setting up new clients and standard reporting within the relevant service line and has a full understanding of the process of set ups from data receipt to reporting.

Checks and signs off on setup checks for completeness and has a full understanding of new set-ups deliverables, to ensure the successful integration into the team.

Participate in Key Project & Stakeholder Meetings

Attends, participates in, and contributes to the planning meetings with the Deployment team by keeping the team and Deployment Manager informed of work progress, deliverables and planning and prioritising for the following day or week.

Identifies and provides on-going feedback regarding improvements that can be made to the reporting process and reports.

When necessary, attends and participates in client meetings together with the Client Success team and/or Deployment Manager to understand the client’s business and reporting requirements for execution.

Training Assistance

Assists in the training and mentoring of new team members by doing training as required and guiding the new team member through the induction period and training process as relates to the Data Visualisation role.
