Momentum Investments is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance professional to oversee end-to-end testing for data and BI solutions. You will design and execute manual and automated tests, including ETL and dashboard validation, ensuring data integrity and system reliability.

The role requires a strong background in SQL, ETL tools, and testing frameworks, with a focus on AI-enabled testing techniques to improve coverage and detection of data quality issues across data capabilities.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSc in Computer Science or Statistics or BSc/Commerce in Information Systems or Informatics; Diploma in IT acceptable.
• ISTQB/ISEB testing qualification preferred.
• At least 8+ years overall work experience; 5+ years in BI/data analysis and testing.

• Ensure test cases align with data models, metadata, and business terminology; troubleshoot ETL sessions and logs.
• Implement automated testing for ETL processes and expand QA artifacts; report defects to stakeholders.
• Contribute to team QA process improvements and test coverage to enhance quality.

Role Purpose

Ensure the quality of all solutions through functional, non-functional, automated, and AI-enabled testing practices, delivering sustainable quality, data integrity, and continuous improvement across the Data capability.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science: Computer Science or Statistics, or
• Bachelor of Science/Commerce: Information Systems or Informatics or
• Minimum: Diploma in Information Technology.
• Qualifications preferred: Testing qualification ISTQB/ISEB.
• Overall work experience: 8+ years
• 5+ years in BI and/or data analysis and testing

Duties and Responsibilities

This person is responsible for end-to-end manual and automated testing for the business solutions. The solution should be tested in terms of functionality, performance, reliability, stability, compatibility and integration with other legacy- and / or external systems.

• Assist with the testing gap analysis between requirements and existing environments accurately for all data capabilities.
• Ensure that user stories are clearly defined and written correctly with acceptance criteria in preparation for the backlog refinement meeting.
• Define quality standards upfront in the PI and sprint meeting and ensure they are achieved.
• Document the test plan prior to the start of any project or planned operational work and keep the test plans up to date.
• Document, maintain and monitor test scenarios, acceptance criteria and the final results.
• Create effective ETL test cases and scenarios based on ETL database loading technology and business requirements.
• Create effective dashboard/data visualization test cases and scenarios based on business requirements.
• Perform SQL queries, stored procedures, and test scripting to delete, define, load, and merge data for tests.
• Ensure that test cases are aligned with business data and metadata (data sources, data tables, data dictionary, business terminology).
• Demonstrate an understanding of data models, data mapping documents, ETL design, and ETL coding by using these resources to inform test cases.
• Troubleshooting of ETL (e.g., Informatica/DataStage) sessions, workflows, and logs
• Implementation of automated testing for ETL processes.
• Reporting on defects/bugs identified to all relevant team members.
• Continuously build test automation artifacts.
• Execute and maintain the manual and automation regression tests.
• Demonstrate deliverables to key stakeholders.
• Report on the team QA way of work, feedback on trends and solutions and continuously optimize the way of work to ensure effective and efficient QA practices in the team and with Momentum Investments IT.
• Contribute to the team’s predictability by maintaining a view of the teams wholistic test coverage.
• Minimise team defects by ensuring upfront code quality.
• Drive collective ownership for testing.
• Ensure the agreed quality standard is always maintained.
• Leverage AI-enabled testing and automation tools to improve test coverage, accelerate test execution, and enhance defect detection across data solutions.
• Apply AI-assisted techniques to analyse datasets, identify anomalies, data quality issues, and testing trends, supporting proactive quality assurance.
