Job summary

FirstRand Life Assurance Ltd seeks a data scientist to build, optimise and implement quantitative analytical methodologies, procedures and advanced models to support business opportunities and strategy. You will work under guidance to deliver insights and predictions.

The role focuses on customer analytics, segmentation and data feature engineering, requiring SAS/SQL coding and familiarity with big data. A collaborative, results-driven team player with strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience within Data Analytics or Customer Analytics.
• 0Experience in Model development, maintenance and optimisation will be advantageous.
• Intermediate proficiency to code in SQL is required.
• Intermediate proficiency to code in SAS will be advantageous.
• Intermediate skills in Python or R would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Good understanding of Data Analytics in a large financial services organisation.
• Understand both the technical points of Data Management and Analytics, as well as the business drivers and needs.
• Translate business requirements into tangible, creative solutions with guidance.
