Job summary

Old Mutual is seeking a technically strong Data Engineer to design, develop, maintain and optimise data platforms and pipelines supporting BI, analytics and operations. You will work with stakeholders, software engineers and data consumers to turn business needs into robust data solutions.

Requirements include a 4–8 year track record in data engineering or related roles, strong SQL, and Python/C# skills, plus experience with ETL/ELT, data warehousing and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• 4-8 years' experience in data engineering or related role.
• Proven SQL and relational database design experience.
• Strong SQL and programming in Python and/or C#.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Build and optimise data models, databases and data integration solutions.
• Develop data solutions supporting reporting, analytics, ML and operations.
• Contribute to cloud-based data platform design and architecture.
• Implement data quality, validation and monitoring frameworks.
• Optimise database performance and troubleshoot data issues.
• Take ownership of data solution quality, stability and performance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate data requirements into solutions.
• Support deployment, testing and maintenance via CI/CD and DevOps.
