Job summary

Old Mutual Limited is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platforms in a Cape Town-based role. You will collaborate with business stakeholders, software engineers and data consumers to deliver reliable data solutions for BI, analytics and operations.

The ideal candidate brings 4–8 years of data engineering or related experience, strong SQL Server and relational design skills, and proficiency in SQL plus C# or Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 4–8 years of Data Engineering or related experience.
• Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server and relational database design principles.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and C# and/or Python development.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions.
• Understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modelling and data architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Build and optimise data models, databases and data integration solutions.
• Develop data solutions for reporting, analytics, ML and operations.
• Contribute to cloud-based data platform design and architecture.
• Implement data quality, validation and monitoring frameworks.
