Job summary

Teraco – A Digital Realty Company in Gauteng seeks a Data Centre Technician (HVAC) to maintain and optimise critical cooling systems across client environments. You will monitor, diagnose and repair HVAC equipment, ensuring high availability and supporting the facilities team.

You will lead planned maintenance, coordinate with OEMs, and contribute to continuous improvement of energy efficiency while upholding safety and ISO standards in a busy data centre setting.

Qualifications

• HVAC systems knowledge including chillers and CRAH/CRAC units.
• Ability to perform planned and preventive maintenance.
• Strong fault finding and repair skills on critical infrastructure.
• Ability to monitor and optimise HVAC efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring, repair and maintenance of critical HVAC infrastructure including chillers and CRAH/CRAC units.
• Serve as HVAC SME supporting a team of technicians.
• Perform and manage planned and preventive maintenance, in-house or via OEM contractors.
• Fault finding and repair coordination to minimise downtime.
• Continuous optimisation of HVAC equipment for efficiency.
• Proactive health and safety and SLA compliance.
• Monitor environments to ensure high uptime and rapid issue resolution.
• Switching and isolation of HVAC equipment before maintenance.
• Assist project teams with installation, commissioning and acceptance testing.
• Daily walkarounds and inspections to prevent outages.
• Wiring and inspection of control systems and panels to maintain day-1 condition.
• Provide technical support for control system/network installation and troubleshooting.
