Job summary

Amazon AWS seeks a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician in Cape Town to perform hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation support. The role focuses on maintaining one of the world’s largest information infrastructures, including UPS systems, generators, HVAC, and power distribution.

You will monitor readings, participate in shift-based operations, and support safety initiatives while collaborating with a diverse team across AWS.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and foster a world-class safety culture.
• Operate and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment (UPS, Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, ATS, Diesel Generators, Chillers, HVAC, Fans, VFDs, Transformers).
• Take daily operational readings and log temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.
• Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance.
• Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required; work shifts.
