Job summary

PBT Group is seeking an experienced Data Analytics Engineer to join our data engineering team. This role sits at the intersection of Data Engineering and Data Analytics, with a strong focus on building reliable, scalable and performant data models and data assets that enable effective reporting and decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have strong SQL and data modelling experience, a solid understanding of analytics engineering principles, and experience developing production-grade data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Honours degree in Data, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering or a closely related role.
• Strong experience in SQL and data modelling.
• Practical experience with data warehousing and dimensional modelling.
• Experience developing and productionising data models, reports or analytical data assets using software engineering principles.
• Experience with CI/CD, version control and data testing frameworks.
• Experience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect or similar.
• Understanding of data governance, data quality and production support.
• Experience working with cloud data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data models, data marts and semantic layers.
• Develop robust SQL transformations, data pipelines and production-grade data assets.
• Apply dimensional modelling and data warehousing best practices.
• Implement data validation, testing and quality assurance frameworks.
• Optimise SQL queries, data models and workloads for performance and scalability.
• Develop and maintain reliable transformation code using version control, CI/CD and testing practices.
• Support and troubleshoot production data models and resolve data or performance issues.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Data Architects and business stakeholders to translate analytical requirements into effective data solutions.
• Contribute to data standards, reusable modelling components and technical best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and provide guidance to junior team members.
• Identify opportunities to improve data processes, automation and team productivity, including through modern tooling and AI-enabled approaches.
