Placements24 is seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join a remote operations team serving mining sites across South Africa. You will collect, clean, and analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, delivering actionable insights to site managers and engineers.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in a quantitative field and at least 2 years in data analysis, with SQL, Python or R, and data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.

You will work closely with site managers and engineers to provide actionable insights that drive operational excellence and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is proficient in data analysis tools and possesses a strong understanding of mining processes, enabling them to translate complex data into clear, concise reports for stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and organize data from various mining operations sources.
• Perform statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in operational data.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Collaborate with operations teams to understand data needs and provide analytical support.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements based on data analysis.
• Ensure data integrity and accuracy across all reporting and analysis activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• 2+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, preferably within the mining or industrial sector.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Python (Pandas, NumPy), R, or similar.
