Job summary

Placements24 is assisting in recruiting a Head Chef to lead catering operations in Pietermaritzburg. You will oversee kitchen management, menu development, and food quality for diverse events, driving innovation and cost-effectiveness while managing a hands-on team.

Qualifications

Proven experience as Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in high-volume catering or hospitality.
Strong culinary skills across diverse cuisines and presentation techniques.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
In-depth knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and kitchen management best practices.
Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and work under pressure.
Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications.

Responsibilities

Develop creative and seasonally appropriate menus for various catering events.
Manage all kitchen operations, including inventory control, procurement, food costing, and budget adherence.
Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
Ensure strict compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations (HACCP).
Oversee food preparation, cooking, and plating to guarantee exceptional quality and presentation for every event.
Collaborate with the event planning team to ensure seamless execution and client satisfaction.
