Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. in Cape Town is seeking a reliable Stagehand to support live performances aboard our cruise ships. You will assist in setting up and breaking down stage equipment and props, and operate lighting, sound, and special effects during performances.

We require previous stagehand experience, knowledge of lighting/sound gear, and the ability to work long hours, weekends, and travel. You should be physically fit, able to lift heavy objects, and share a team-driven approach to safety

Qualifications

• Experience as Stagehand in live performances.
• Knowledge of lighting, sound, and special effects equipment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility to work long hours and weekends as needed.
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects.
• Willingness to travel and work on a cruise ship for extended periods of time.
• Basic understanding of technical theater concepts and terminology.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical theater training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the setup and breakdown of stage equipment and props for performances.
• Operate lighting, sound, and special effects during performances.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on stage equipment as needed.
• Assist in the loading and unloading of equipment during port stops.
• Work closely with the Stage Manager to ensure smooth transitions between performances.
• Communicate effectively with other crew members to ensure the safety and success of each performance.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organized backstage area.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the Stage Manager or other superiors.
