Job summary

PepsiCo Inc. is seeking a Credit Controller in Cape Town to enhance cash flow and minimize bad debts. The role covers all direct credit control activities, from proactive collections to reporting and customer relationship management.

Responsibilities include payments capture, claims management, master data integrity, and ensuring adherence to approved terms. You will coordinate with Sales Admin and other departments to maintain strong debtor performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in credit control and accounts receivable processes.
• Knowledge of debt collection and cash applications.
• FMCG industry knowledge is advantageous.
• Strong financial and management accounting knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Capture payments and reconcile debtor accounts accurately.
• Manage claims and process deductions by customers (transport claims, allowances, etc.).
• Maintain master data accuracy and comply with SOP; protect debtor information per POPI.
• Maintain good relationships with internal and external customers.
• Ensure credit terms and limits are not exceeded.
• Bookkeeping: clear accounts and timely statements to avoid late payments.
• Produce 30/60/90/120 day reports and related action plans.
• Advise supervisors on potential bad debts and suggested actions.

Job description

Overview

To enhance the company’s cash flow and minimize the risk of bad debts. The role is responsible for all the directs activities of the credit control function, which includes proactively managing and collecting debts of on time debtors payments from company debtors. Ensuring both on time collection and maintenance of outstanding debts within agreed targets. Monthly claims management and analysis, by resolving claims with both internal and external customers. Reporting and customer relationship management is also a major requirement of this position.

Responsibilities

• Capturing of payments and accurate reconciliation of debtor’s accounts
• Claims management - control and processing of all claims deducted by customer in form of transport claims, sallies, ensuring that ad hoc claims are processed by the sales admin team and that the stock related claims such as returns and damages is processed on time by the responsible unit.
• Master Data management – ensuring that the master data is 100% correct and compliant to the SOP. Also ensuring the safe and correct handling of debtor’s information, to be in line with the POPI act.
• Maintaining good customer relationships both internally and externally
• Ensuring that the approved credit terms and limits are not exceeded
• Bookkeeping – Ensuring accurate clearing of accounts, timeously submitting of statements to avoid nonpayment or late payments
• Reporting – 30, 60, 90, 120 days reporting and action plans. POD Control reporting, Price Discrepancy report, Cash Inflow and Settlement discount report
• Advising superiors of potential bad debts in order to take necessary action steps
• Inter department communication – Sales Admin, Sales, PFLS, etc.
