Zohorecruit in Robertson, Western Cape, is seeking a skilled Roof Truss Designer to deliver precise designs and cost estimates for timber construction projects across sites.

You will interpret architectural drawings, prepare accurate quotes, and collaborate with builders and engineers, with travel between branches and project sites within the Western Cape.

The role requires 3–5 years’ experience and a relevant tertiary qualification; MiTek and Pamir software experience is highly advantageous.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in roof truss design and cost estimation within timber/building materials.
• Ability to interpret complex architectural drawings and structural requirements.
• Strong mathematical proficiency and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel between sites within the Western Cape region.
• Matric certificate and relevant tertiary qualification.

Job Description

Delivering precision structural calculations and material pricing accuracy, this role creates compliant, safe, and cost-effective designs with clear material estimates for clients, building contractors, and developers. The position acts as a technical resource, collaborating directly with builders and engineers to provide optimised structural solutions for diverse construction projects.

Operating across multiple operational sites within the Western Cape region, this role requires travel between branches or project sites to perform accurate measurements, support site alignment, and ensure technical standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

Create safe, compliant, and cost-effective roof truss designs based on architectural plans and engineering briefs.

Generate highly accurate quotes and material take-offs for clients, contractors, and developers.

Collaborate with builders, engineers, and clients to provide technical support and optimised structural solutions.

Conduct site visits and provide support across locations when necessary to ensure precise measurements and project alignment.

Requirements

Proven experience in roof truss design and cost estimation within the timber or building materials industry.

Ability to accurately interpret complex architectural drawings and structural engineering requirements.

Strong mathematical proficiency, attention to detail, and spatial awareness.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Matric certificate.

Willingness to travel between sites or relocate within the Western Cape region based on operational requirements.

Point of sales software experience.

Relevant tertiary qualification (with at least 3–5 years’ experience in a similar position).

Required Software Skills

Advanced knowledge of roof truss design software (e.g. MiTek and Pamir) is highly advantageous.
