Job summary

Staff Focus seeks a Corporate Finance Transaction Leader to join our client’s team in the Western Cape. You will drive transactions, understand client businesses, and coordinate with buyers and advisors to structure value-optimizing deals.

The role requires strong financial acumen, negotiation skills and experience in corporate finance, M&A or related fields. Office-based position in CPT Southern Suburbs, Western Cape.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement is a qualification in Accounting, Finance, Law or related field; partly qualified or qualified candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Understand each transaction, client business and vendor requirements.
• Set project strategy and ensure resources are in place for best outcomes.
• Analyze client financial performance and business drivers.
• Prepare for client, buyer and stakeholder meetings and facilitate discussions.
• Maintain records and update CRM with meeting notes and progress.
• Guide clients and counterparties on viable deal structures and synergies.
• Draft indicative offers and explore opportunities to maximize value.
• Communicate with clients, buyers and advisors to relay feedback and responses.
• Negotiate deal structures between vendors and purchasers.

Our client is looking for a Corporate Finance Transaction Leader to join their team. The position will suit professionals with experience in corporate finance, accounting, M&A, business brokerage or related financial services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a strong understanding of each transaction, the client's business and the vendor's requirements.
• Set the strategic direction of projects from the outset and ensure the appropriate resources are in place to achieve the best possible outcomes.
• Develop a detailed understanding of the client's financial performance and business drivers.
• Prepare thoroughly for client, buyer and stakeholder meetings and facilitate meetings where required.
• Manage all relevant client and buyer follow-up following meetings and discussions.
• Guide clients and counterparties in exploring appropriate and commercially viable deal structures.
• Prepare and generate indicative offers and identify opportunities to leverage acquisition synergies and maximise value.
• Communicate effectively between clients, buyers and specialist advisors, ensuring that relevant offers, feedback and responses are accurately relayed.
• Negotiate commercially acceptable deal structures between vendors and purchasers.
• Liaise with senior transaction team members regarding project progress, negotiations and developments.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure diligent CRM updates following discussions and meetings with buyers and sellers.
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members where applicable.
• A qualification or background in Accounting, Finance, Law or a related field would be advantageous.
• Partly qualified or qualified professionals will be considered.
• Relevant experience in corporate finance, M&A, an accounting firm, corporate finance boutique, investment environment or business brokerage is advantageous.
• Strong financial understanding with the ability to analyse and interpret financial information.
• Practical knowledge and understanding of M&A and corporate finance transactions preferred.
• Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation, influencing and persuasion skills.
• Excellent financial and numerical ability.
