Main Purpose of the Copywriter Role:

The Copywriter will develop and create compelling stories across various platforms that can generate income, whether its a report, social media captions, proposals, project overviews and emailers that align with the Children’s Hospital Trust's vision, mission, and values. You will work alongside the Donor Relations team, playing a critical role in ensuring the strategic effectiveness and quality of targeted content shared with various donor segments. You will craft content that aims to retain existing donors while educating, inspiring, and acquiring new ones. This role involves research, planning, creating, curating, and executing content to elevate the Children’s Hospital Trust brand.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Content Strategy: Develop content strategies that support the organisation’s goals and resonate with target audiences, ensuring alignment with donor segments and overall strategy.
  • Brand Voice: Maintain the brand’s professional voice across all written content to ensure consistency.
  • Fundraising & Marketing Support: Contribute to fundraising ideas, marketing concepts, and messaging refinements, identifying opportunities and solving communication challenges.
  • Storytelling & Engagement: Regularly visit the hospital to engage with staff, patients, and parents, collecting stories that reflect the hospital's impact.
  • Copy Development: Create persuasive, engaging content for proposals, reports, letters, websites, social media, email campaigns, print materials, and ads. Transform single content pieces into various formats.
  • Editing & Proofreading: Ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to organisational standards across all written materials.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with external designers, marketing, and digital agencies to assist with content needs.
  • Market & Trend Analysis: Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in copywriting and content marketing.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track the performance of content and refine strategies based on data insights.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines while delivering high-quality work.
Key Skills & Experience / Education:
  • A degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a copywriter, preferably in a fundraising or healthcare environment.
  • Experience developing content strategies and writing for various platforms (digital and print).
  • Must be highly skilled in MS Office until advanced (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • WordPress knowledge and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience with a proven track record of producing writing that achieves successful outcomes aligned with its purpose.
  • Strong ability in conceptual and visual thinking.
  • Deadline-driven and remaining calm while working under pressure.
  • High level communications and people skills: able to work with people from different environments.
