Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care invites applications for a Cook II to help open the Ng Siu Chan Centre, a new long-term care home, and contribute to a culture of dignity, independence and meaningful living for residents. You will prepare meals, manage portions and ensure food safety in a senior care setting.

The role requires a Chef Training diploma or equivalent, a valid Food Handler Safety Certificate, and at least 3 years of institutional cooking experience; knowledge of Asian cuisine is

Qualifications

• Completion of Chef Training diploma or diploma/certificate in Culinary Management, Cook, Food and Nutrition or equivalent.
• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate.
• Minimum 3 years proven institutional cooking experience.
• Familiarity with Asian cuisine and use of industrial size wok is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks food and snacks according to pre-determined requirements, palatability and menu/recipe.
• Pre-prepares menu items according to menu (regular and vegetarian).
• Inspects and tastes food for quality.
• Accurately portions and serves food to residents.
• Maintains and cleans equipment; keeps production areas clean and organized.
• Keeps temperature logs for refrigerator/freezer and food temperatures.
• Monitors stock and reports replenishment needs.
