Job summary

V3 Consulting seeks a Contract Engineer to manage both technical and contractual aspects of civil projects. The role ensures engineering work meets specifications while handling contracts with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

You will monitor timelines and budgets, coordinate between technical teams and stakeholders, and ensure project delivery in line with contractual requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSc/BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA.
• 20+ years of relevant civil engineering experience.
• Prefer road upgrade project experience and familiarity with FIDIC contracts.
• Knowledge of COTO specifications.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with civil engineers, surveyors, architects and stakeholders to develop project plans and designs.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts to align with project objectives and legal requirements.
• Identify and assess risks in contractual agreements across financial, legal, operational and reputational areas.
• Monitor project costs against approved budgets.
• Prepare comprehensive project closeout reports summarising outcomes, challenges and lessons learned.
• Implement quality control procedures and conduct inspections to ensure QA plans.
• Develop detailed project plans outlining tasks, timelines and resources.
• Evaluate and refine contract management processes for efficiency and compliance.

The Contract Engineer will oversee both the technical and contractual aspects of projects, ensuring that engineering work meets specifications while managing contracts with clients, suppliers and subcontractors. The role will also involve monitoring project timelines and budgets, coordinating between technical teams and stakeholders, and ensuring projects are delivered successfully and in accordance with contractual requirements.

• Collaborate and communicate with civil engineers, surveyors, architects and stakeholders to develop detailed project plans and designs.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts to ensure alignment with project objectives and legal requirements.
• Identify and assess risks associated with contractual agreements, including financial, legal, operational and reputational risks.
• Monitor and analyse project costs against approved budgets.
• Prepare comprehensive project closeout reports summarising key outcomes, challenges and lessons learned.
• Implement quality control procedures and conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with quality assurance plans.
• Develop detailed project plans outlining tasks, timelines and resources required to achieve project objectives.
• Evaluate and refine contract management processes to improve efficiency and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

BSc/BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering.

Professional Registration(s):

Registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA.

Years of Relevant Experience:

20+ years’ relevant experience in civil engineering.

Preferred Project Experience:

• Relevant road experience, particularly on major road upgrade projects.
• Strong experience with FIDIC contracts and COTO specifications.
