Job summary

Hitachi Energy South Africa (Pty) Ltd. is seeking an experienced Tender & Quotation Specialist in Johannesburg to lead the preparation and submission of complex substation tenders across the South Africa region.

You will collaborate with sales, engineering, supply chain, project management, and legal teams to develop competitive technical and commercial proposals while ensuring compliance with processes and customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• 8–12 years of experience in substation tendering, proposal management, or project engineering.
• Strong understanding of substation products, systems, and solutions.
• Experience supporting end-to-end bid and tender processes.
• Good knowledge of technical and commercial aspects of substation projects.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage medium- to high-complexity tenders from opportunity assessment through final submission.
• Coordinate with operating units, engineering teams, project managers, supply chain, legal, quality, HSE, consultants, and customers to ensure timely and high-quality proposal delivery.
• Support bid qualification activities, including prequalification reviews for Bid/No-Bid assessments.
• Develop tender strategies, target pricing approaches, and optimized technical solutions aligned with customer requirements.
• Review single-line diagrams, layouts, and substation configurations including AIS, GIS, and hybrid solutions.
• Assess technical specifications and validate primary and Secondary equipment selections such as transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, CRPand SCADA.
• Work closely with supply chain teams to evaluate vendor quotations and define sourcing strategies.
• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate technical, commercial, contractual, and execution risks through structured risk review processes.
• Review commercial conditions, cash-flow requirements, and contractual inputs to support sound business decisions.
• Prepare and submit complete tender documentation in accordance with customer and company requirements.
• Ensure effective handover of awarded projects to execution teams.
