Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Construction Safety Officer to join our team in Centurion, South Africa. You will develop, implement, and monitor health and safety programs to prevent accidents and ensure regulatory compliance on major site projects.

You will lead site inspections, incident investigations, toolbox talks, and training sessions while promoting a strong safety culture among all workers. A NOSA/SAMTRAC certification and 3+ years in construction safety are preferred.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification or certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NOSA, SAMTRAC).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of South African OHS Act and other relevant safety regulations.
• Strong risk assessment and hazard identification skills.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and training skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with site teams and management.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific health and safety plans in accordance with relevant legislation and company policies.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to all site personnel, including employees and subcontractors.
• Maintain all safety documentation, records, and compliance registers as required by regulatory bodies.
• Promote a positive safety culture through effective communication, engagement, and visible leadership on site.
