Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Master's degree is an advantage.
• 10+ years in construction PM, large-scale infra, marine/port preferred.
• Experience with multi-million Rand budgets.
• Proficient in MS Project or Primavera P6.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation skills.
• Good HSEQ knowledge.
• Experience in Richards Bay is highly desirable.

About the Role Our client, a major player in maritime infrastructure development, is seeking a seasoned Construction Project Manager for significant projects in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. This role is crucial for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of complex port expansion and upgrade initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the construction process, from initial site preparation and resource allocation to final handover, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. This position requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership capabilities and a deep understanding of marine construction environments. You will be at the forefront of developing vital infrastructure that supports regional and international trade. The role demands a proactive approach to risk management and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage detailed project plans, including scope, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation for port infrastructure projects.
• Oversee all phases of construction, from procurement and site management to quality assurance and project closeout.
• Coordinate effectively with internal teams, external contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Demonstrated success in managing complex projects with multi-million Rand budgets.
• Expertise in project management methodologies and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Strong understanding of civil, structural, and mechanical aspects of port construction.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• In-depth knowledge of HSEQ regulations and best practices in the construction industry.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a challenging environment.
• Previous experience in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal is highly desirable.
