Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead large coastal development projects in East London, Eastern Cape. You will manage planning, procurement, and handover, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and high quality and safety standards.

You will oversee teams and subcontractors, enforce SA construction regulations, and liaise with clients and authorities to drive successful outcomes in a coastal environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in construction management, coastal residential/commercial projects.
• Proven ability to manage large-scale projects from inception to completion.
• In-depth knowledge of SA building regulations, health and safety, and environmental compliance.
• Experience with project management software and interpreting technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire construction process for coastal development projects and ensure delivery.
• Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Lead and mentor construction teams, including site staff and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially coastal rules.

About the Role

Our client is a leading property developer and construction firm recognized for its exceptional coastal developments and commitment to quality. They are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Construction Manager to lead and oversee significant building projects in East London, Eastern Cape, ZA. This senior role demands comprehensive expertise in managing all facets of construction, from initial planning and procurement through to final handover. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of building regulations, and a proven ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety, particularly in a coastal environment. You will be responsible for managing project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders, ensuring the successful execution of high-profile developments along the Eastern Cape coastline.

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and project management principles.
• Expertise in South African building regulations, health and safety legislation, and environmental compliance.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with project management software and contract administration.Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Previous experience managing projects in East London, Eastern Cape, ZA, or similar coastal regions is highly advantageous.
