Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Construction Health and Safety Officer to oversee safety on Richards Bay construction sites. You will develop and implement health and safety policies, assess hazards, investigate incidents, and promote a strong safety culture across projects.

The successful candidate will have a National Diploma in Safety Management or related field, CHSO registration, and at least 5 years of experience in construction H&S, with solid knowledge of the SA OHS Act and regulations.

Qualifications

• CHSO registration with the appropriate statutory body.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction health and safety.
• Strong knowledge of South African OHS Act and regulations.
• Proficient hazard assessment and control methods.
• Excellent report writing and training delivery skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement health and safety plans for construction sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits for compliance.
• Investigate accidents and near misses; prepare reports and corrective actions.
• Deliver toolbox talks and safety training to site personnel.
• Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
• Liaise with authorities and clients on safety matters; promote safety culture.
