Placements24 is seeking a proactive Construction Health and Safety Manager to lead safety programs for projects in and around Randburg. You will develop, implement, and oversee HSE policies across sites, ensuring compliance with SA regulations and best practices.

The role requires in-depth hazard awareness, risk assessment, and strong safety culture development. The candidate will travel to various sites around Randburg, lead training, conduct audits, and manage permits and documentation.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Health and Safety policies for construction operations.
• Conduct site audits, inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards.
• Investigate incidents and near misses and implement corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Construction Health and Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives for projects in and around Randburg . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health and safety programs across all construction sites, ensuring compliance with national regulations and industry best practices. This role requires a deep understanding of construction site hazards, risk assessment, and effective safety management systems. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to maintaining a safe working environment, minimizing risks, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust Health and Safety policies and procedures for construction operations.
• Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
• Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and implementing corrective actions.
• Deliver comprehensive safety training and toolbox talks to all site personnel.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including the OHS Act.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage all required safety documentation and permits.

Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a Health and Safety role within the construction industry.
• Professional registration (e.g., SACPCMP, SAIOSH) is a significant advantage.
• In-depth knowledge of South African safety legislation and best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and training skills.
• Ability to travel to various sites in and around Randburg as needed.
