Job summary

Placements24 in Benoni, Gauteng, is seeking a qualified Substance Abuse Counselor to join a dedicated treatment center. You will conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and lead individual and group therapy sessions to support clients on their recovery journey.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Psychology/Social Work/Counseling, professional registration (HPCSA/SACSSP), and at least 3 years of direct substance abuse counseling experience.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree or diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
• Professional registration with HPCSA or SACSSP as counselor or therapist.
• Minimum of 3 years of direct substance abuse counseling experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive substance abuse assessments and determine needs.
• Develop individualized treatment plans with clients' input.
• Facilitate individual counseling addressing triggers and coping skills.
• Lead group therapy sessions on relapse prevention and life skills.
• Provide psychoeducation to clients and families about addiction and recovery.
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Collaborate with medical staff and case managers within the team.
• Maintain accurate, confidential client records and notes.
• Promote a safe, supportive therapeutic environment for all clients.
• Assist with relapse prevention planning and post-treatment support.
