Job summary

Placements24 in Upington is seeking a compassionate Disability Support Worker to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving greater independence and improving their quality of life. You will provide daily living support, promote inclusion, and foster a safe, respectful environment.

You will collaborate with families and healthcare professionals to implement personalised plans, support community participation, and teach life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and transport.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification or certification in disability care, community services, or a related field.
• Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities.
• Understanding of person-centered care principles and disability rights.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A patient, empathetic, and reliable approach to care.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care, including hygiene, dressing, and mobility, ensuring dignity and respect.
• Support clients in engaging in community activities, social events, and recreational pursuits to foster inclusion.
• Help clients develop life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and using public transport.
• Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients' health, reporting any concerns to supervisors.
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, and allied health professionals to implement individualized support plans.
