Job summary

Kabstrading Co in Durban is seeking a compassionate care assistant to support residents in daily meals, hydration, and basic feeding under the supervision of nursing staff.

You will take reports from the previous shift, assist with dining, record information, encourage fluid intake, and help residents with daily tasks as part of a caring team. This role requires empathy, reliability, and the ability to work well with patients and colleagues in a hospital or facility setting.

Responsibilities

• Take a report from the previous shift.
• Assist patients in preparation for meals, drinks, and snacks when necessary.
• Feed patients if needed.
• Record and report all relevant information to the Registered Nurse on duty.
• Assist patients with fluids.
• Assist patients in the dining room.
• Put bibs on for those who need it.
• Help dish up and cut food for patients who are too weak.
• Do rounds by your patients.
• Assist residents with their daily tasks that they cannot manage and provide general support as part of a caring team.
• Assist and encourage dietary & fluid intake.
