Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Community Health Advocate and Educator to engage with Vereeniging residents, raise awareness of health issues, and connect people with local services. You will design and deliver health education, conduct screenings, and advocate for underserved communities.

The role requires strong communication, public health knowledge, and collaboration with community leaders, health workers, and NGOs to improve health outcomes and report on outreach results.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of public health principles and common health issues.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience facilitating group sessions and community engagement.
• Proficiency in data collection and reporting.
• Commitment to serving the Vereeniging community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging health education sessions and workshops on topics such as disease prevention, maternal health, nutrition, and hygiene.
• Conduct community outreach activities to raise awareness and promote healthy lifestyles.
• Assist in organizing and conducting basic health screenings (e.g., blood pressure, glucose checks).
• Provide information and referrals to local healthcare facilities and social services.
• Serve as a trusted link between the community and healthcare providers.
• Collect data on community health needs and program effectiveness.
• Advocate for improved health services and policies within the Vereeniging area.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, health workers, and local organizations.
• Prepare reports on outreach activities and health education outcomes.
• Stay updated on public health trends and best practices relevant to the community.
