Job summary

The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government, is seeking a candidate at Level 06 to inform and assist communities in accessing government services. You will determine community needs and communicate them to relevant structures, promoting networks and improving local service delivery.

You will compile progress reports and stay up to date on all government services and access processes, ensuring timely and accurate information for communities across the Western Cape.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of policies, legislation, guidelines, standards, procedures in public services.
• Understanding of communities in the Western Cape and their functioning.
• Facilitating skills for public participation in policy making and service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Inform and assist communities in accessing government services; determine community needs and communicate to relevant structures.
• Promote networks and enhance activities of local community workers to improve service delivery.
• Compile reports on progress, issues attended to, actions taken and outcomes; stay up to date on services and access processes.

• Competencies: Knowledge of the following: Applicable policies, legislation, guidelines, standards, procedures
• and best practices in the public services; Composition of communities in the Western Cape and their functioning; Facilitating skills to public participation in
• policy making and service delivery.
• Skills in the following: Project organisation, interpersonal, report writing and reporting; Proven computer literacy (MS
  Office); Self-management and adherence to timelines; Written and verbal communication skills.

Duties

• Inform and assist communities in the Western Cape with access to services provided by government structures; Determine the needs of communities and
• communicate it to the relevant structures; Promote networks and enhance the activities or existing local community workers aimed at improved service
• delivery; Compile report and documents on progress, issues attended to, actions taken and outcomes as required; Keep up to date regarding all services
• rendered by government and the processes and mechanisms to access the services.
