Job summary

The President Hotel is seeking a Commis Chef with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a professional kitchen environment. Join a high-volume hotel kitchen and learn alongside a skilled culinary team as you develop your craft.

You will assist with food preparation, mise en place, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety in a busy 4- or 5-star setting. Weekend shifts and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Familiarity with basic cooking techniques and hygiene standards.
• Understanding of HACCP and food safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation and cooking across kitchen sections.
• Maintain mise en place for service readiness.
• Follow recipes, portions and presentation standards.
• Support senior chefs during busy periods.
• Ensure quality, consistency and plating standards.
• Keep workstations clean, organized and hygienic.
• Adhere to food safety, hygiene and kitchen safety procedures.
• Assist with stock rotation and proper storage to reduce waste.
• Communicate effectively with the kitchen team during service.
• Expand culinary knowledge across sections and techniques.
• Take initiative to improve speed, accuracy and skills.
