Placements24 is seeking a Commercial Pilot to join a cargo flight operations team in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. The role covers pre-flight planning, aircraft handling, and in-flight management of cargo routes with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will hold a SACAA CPL/ATPL with IR and MEP ratings, 1500+ hours (PIC preferred), a Class 1 Medical, and a readiness to work non-standard hours in a dynamic cargo environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a SACAA-issue CPL/ATPL license and instrument rating.
• Minimum 1500 total flight hours with PIC experience preferred.
• Cargo flight experience is highly desirable.
• Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate and SACAA regulatory knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Pilot cargo aircraft safely and in accordance with procedures.

About the Role

Our client, a growing cargo airline with a strong regional presence, is seeking a highly skilled and professional Commercial Pilot to join their flight operations team based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This role involves flying various cargo routes, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of goods. You will be responsible for all aspects of flight operations, from pre-flight checks and flight planning to in-flight management and post-flight duties. The ideal candidate is a disciplined aviator with a passion for flying, a commitment to safety, and excellent decision-making skills. This is an on-site position requiring regular travel within your assigned routes. You will work within a dedicated team of aviation professionals, contributing to the reliability and success of our cargo services. Key Responsibilities

• Pilot cargo aircraft safely and efficiently in accordance with company operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct pre-flight inspections, calculations, and planning, including weather and route analysis.
• Manage flight operations during flight, including navigation, communication, and in-flight decision-making.
• Ensure all flight documentation is accurate and completed promptly.
• Collaborate effectively with the ground crew, dispatchers, and other operational personnel.
• Maintain proficiency through regular training and simulator sessions.
• Adhere strictly to all South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) regulations and company policies.
• Represent the company professionally at all times.
• Contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the flight operations department.
• Manage cargo loading and securing procedures as required by company policy and the aircraft type.

Requirements

• Valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) issued by the SACAA.
• Current Instrument Rating (IR) and Multi-Engine Rating.
• Minimum of 1500 total flight hours, with a significant portion as pilot-in-command.
• Experience flying cargo aircraft is highly desirable.
• Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
• Thorough knowledge of aviation regulations, meteorology, and navigation.
• Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work irregular hours and adapt to changing schedules.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Stellenbosch area or within commuting distance.
• Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa.
